In the conference organized by our faculty, Ebubekir M. Deniz met with students and academics with his presentation titled “Can Robots Also Be Slaves?”. During the conference, which focused on artificial intelligence ethics, the social status of robots, and the impact of technology on human life, it was emphasized that artificial intelligence is not merely a technical issue, but a field with ethical, philosophical, and social dimensions.
In his speech, Deniz discussed that robots can be evaluated within different frameworks such as "tools," "slaves," "quasi-agents," and "agents," addressing debates on responsibility, intention, and moral status regarding artificial intelligence systems. Throughout the conference, which was followed with great interest by the participants, various examples based on current artificial intelligence applications were also shared.
Following the program, our Dean, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Koçak, took the floor and stated that, as a faculty, they attach great importance to artificial intelligence studies and interdisciplinary debates. Expressing that such events contribute to students' thinking on contemporary issues, Koçak presented a certificate of appreciation to Ebubekir M. Deniz for his contributions to the conference.
The event concluded with a Q&A session where the audience directed their questions.
